Bangle Mania (Chudi Khankegi)

Hello sugars!
This one is dedicated to Rashmi :), a self proclaimed bangle lover!

As for me, I was not particularly attracted to adorning anything on my wrists. My mum even quipped saying they look too flat as i never wore bangles (which according to her rounded them off - lol!)

Hailing from the southern part of India, it was gold that took priority. And if at all some glass bangles. But marrying into the North India community, opened up a whole new world of bangles, that i never knew existed!

Here is my latest tryst with it - As you can see, I have filled it up to the brim as I couldnt have enough :p
Colors Galore!

My marriage necessitates me to wear bangles that have either Iron or Mud in it, per the rituals. (at least one on each hand all time - I try to stick to it more while at my in-laws')

The bangle vendors out there custom make the combinations according to your taste, outfit and affordability. What you see above is something I got custom-combined for my ghagra - which had a maroon base with pretty much all colored little glitters on it - and thus the plethora of colors you see.
And boy! you must see the bangle-vendor making it - artists hands at work! (Will capture it on video next time!)

Reds and Oranges
Some more that I wore a few years back on a visit during Diwali.

These are all that I have with me currently. Rest (which is another 2/3rds stocked and stashed somewhere at either of our homes!

Bangles and Boxes
1 - Part of my wedding collection, the first of the lot; Auspicious and thus saving it
2 - Some random picks sometime back
3 - Recent adds - Orange is one of my favourites! was matched with my saree I wore for a Pooja; The dark maroon ones towards extreme right was again matched to a lovely golden maroon Kancheevaram I wore for a family wedding
4 - My all-time fav (as of now!) matched to my multi-colored lehenga that I wore for a family wedding again

Those bangle boxes numbered 2 and 3 were a chance find at a local supermarket (think Reliance!) - and the last ones of course! (saving the best for last as they say)

So, there - although I dont wear them often enough, I definitely go crazy when I get to the shop! Shall capture a video for sure this next time.

Chao!

wow lovely collection. Bangles are the one item of jewellery I have never been addicted to. And I think that is going to change after reading your post. Do you store the bangles in the same custom mixed manner or do you separate them and store? Just curious.

Glad it gave u some food for addiction Poohkie :)
Well for bigger collections (like the one in my first pic) I dont disturb it. at least one set. most of the others I do as i tend to mix and match. but somehow i do remember the sets :p (and i am no math genius btw)
