Purple Possessions and Olive Obsessions

Just a year or two ago
Olive existed only in my Martinis, whenever it did, but never in my color dictionary
Purple ='ed Violet/Lavender ='ed non classy and tacky looking in my opinion and sometimes ='ed Indigo as in the VIBGYOR, an unimpressive option

We all go through a fashion metamorphosis every now and then, with wisdom kicking in and age spiraling out ;) Well, I discovered some shades suddenly!
And now I am possessed by the purples of the world and getting obsessed with olives in non-martini settings!

Preening with the purples

Purple Haze
  • Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Paradoxical - A pretty Birdie gifted me this on my 2010 Birthday, and just after having met :)
    • I wont say much as we all know a Chanel nail paint has no adjectives. Lovely Greyish Purple with a tinge of bluish? violet? shimmer. These nail paints dont chip for a whole week (that is if you dont scrub your hands often or wash every 20 mins)!
  • Oriflame veryme Double Trouble in Electric Purple
    • Its just trouble, doubled! Its dry, tugs and has a very bad color payoff. I am not going near staying power
  • Oriflame wonderlash mascara in Purple
    • a first for me in a purple mascara, no it doesnt show up as that easily except when paired with purple eye make up and caught in the light. Decent one. Lovely comb wand
(I still remember when I got the oriflame order from my neighbor - just the day before my bub was born :D and that was May, its a long while now for me to still like 'a' shade)

Purple Swatches
Top: Maybelline Gel Liner in Aubergine
L to R: NYX Trio, MUA Pearl e/s Shade 13, Oriflame Double Trouble (top/bottom), Chambor Dazzle eye pencil in Purple Dazzle
On my nails: no, its not either of my purple paints :( its Avon nailwear Pro Nail Enamel in Deluxe Chocolate
  • Chambor Dazzle Eye Pencil in Purple Dazzle
    • My best Chambor product ever. Bluish purple, maybe Indigo with silver shimmer, stays put, glides on and looks amazing on indian skintone
  • Avon Simply Pretty Nail Enamel in Pretty Plum
    • Its a simple one. Light Violet with silver shimmer. Goes a bit sheer and thus can be used on top of other nail paints; Not a great fan!
  • Lotus Colour Dew Nail Enamel in Orchid Pearl
    • Another winner for Indian skintone, attire and occasions - lets just say it suits the indian circumstances ;) Lovely bright festive Violet!
  • MUA Pearl eyeshadow in Shade 13
    • Part of my recent UK Superdrug haul, MUA does these £1 cosmetics and totally worth it. A slightly creamy powder textured purple eyeshadow. I aint jumping about it but Its a great grab!
  • NYX Eyeshadow Trio in Purple / Deep Purple / Prune
    • NYX eyeshadow quality impresses me for the bucks. Not too sure I can easily use any of the colors on this without looking a bit amateurish but nevertheless a nice palette
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Eggplant Aubergine
    • Enough has been said about this one across. Maybelline Gel Liners are taking up more and more space in my kit and this shade is a gorgeous one indeed!
  • Danglers from a local shop by name Chica Booti -
    • Danglers are my mood elevators apart from getting me to believe I've got a long neck :)

And Oh my Gosh, these Olives!
I use one of these olives pretty much all the time, with any eye makeup! Obsessed, do they call it?!

Olives, O!
  • MAC Shimmer eyeshadow in Greensmoke
    • Its been lying in my stash for a VERY long time. But just got around to using it. Its a very subtle olive with golden shimmer. I find it difficult to work with. Wish I had picked Sumptuous Olive instead! (used in my Diwali FOTD here)
  • Bourjois Clubbing Liner in Bronze Dance Floor
    • At one point this was my new black! A Deep Dark Green with Gold, this liquid liner doesnt evoke the Clubbing animal in me but does give that extra shine for a party look! When applied in layers it almost seems black and matte (but one cant miss the shimmer when you remove :))
  • NYX (a name too long)  eyeliner in Golden Olive
    • I haven't used much of NYX but in the little I have sampled, this eyeliner is a treasure! The shade is a perfect olive with very little almost invisible golden shimmer. It is called 'Slide On, Glide On, Stay On & Definitely a Turn On Waterproof, Extreme Shine Eye Liner' - phew! Long for a name but lives up to most of it - don't see the extremity in the shine, thank goodness for that! (used in my Diwali FOTD here)
  • Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Stash (golden forest green)
    • Ok the rave isn't all crap. Urban Decay, 24/7 should say it all. This shade is more green than the NYX with more visible golden shimmer. Its sooo creamy yet doesnt smudge! Love it!!!!
  • ELF cream eyeliner in Metallic Olive
    • One of the best amongst the recent splurge on ELF. Its not the best cream eyeliner of course, but creamy enough to go on smooth without tugging. Again a shade to die for, for me! (used in my Diwali FOTD here)

Olive Swatches
Left, Top-Bottom: NYX eyeliner in Golden Olive, Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencil in Stash, Bourjois Clubbing Liner in Bronze Dance Floor
Right Top: MAC e/s in Greensmoke; Right Bottom: E.L.F Cream eyeliner in Metallic Olive

You got any of these? Is it Purples or Olives for you? Or something else like Plums, Blacks and more?
And Aint' I justified in my current state of mind pertaining to the above? ;)

P.S: I been sitting on this article for more than 3 weeks now. Busy at home but then Christmas distractions are also to blame for!
